    Default about choice of word...

    Hello there. I got the following sentences in my reply letter and hope someone here can advise me.

    Part of the contents of my original letter:

    "I should be grateful if you would state clearly in your letter the following items:-

    1. The name of the incorrect document;
    2. The filing date of the incorrect document; and
    3. The descriptions and the corrections of the errors. "

    However, my supervisor instructs me to have the above item 3 amended as follows:

    3. The descriptions and the correct position of the errors.

    Does the amended item 3 look better?

    Thank you.

    Hi, wacky,
    I'd rather leave the 3rd line as it was. The correct position of the errors doesn't make any sense to me. Actually, there isn't enough context and I may be wrong.

    It's not entirely clear what you are talking about, do you mean corrections made to the document, or the correct filing of the correct document? If it's the latter, how about:
    Details of the rectification of these errors

    Hi there. I'm sorry that I did not make myself understood. The fact is that: A company filed a document with my institution and later it was found something wrong was reported in the document (typos or contents). We usually request the company to lodge another document (or an explanatory letter) as an amendment to the wrong one to rectify the record. The contents of the amendment, if in the form of an explanatory letter, should include the following items:

    1. The name of the incorrect document;
    2. The filing date of the incorrect document; and
    3. The descriptions and the corrections of the errors. (here means what the error is and what the correction will be)

    Thanks for your help.
