Default we went home early ?

Hi, I am trying to figure out a good way to say this,

    this is the situation,

we had just left from a party, three friends in the car, and driver
drop us one by one to each person's home, and I am supposed to be
the last one. At the point we were dropping off this first person, if I
    say,

    "we went home early tonight",

is this good? what I meant to say was, because we left the party early,
so it's still not to late at night",

    or should I say,

    "we gone home early tonight",

    thanks,
