the birds and the bees?
However, I had hoped to postpone a serious discussion regarding the birds and the bees for a few more years.
What does the birds and the bees mean? According to the context, it seems something about giving birth to a child.
'The birds and the bees' is an expression meaning 'sex education'. It's often used with children, when parents feel embarrassed to use the word 'sex'.
'John, isn't it about time you sat down with our son and told him about the birds and the bees?'
Thank you,Shane. I know its meaning now. But could you explain further what connects "birds and bees" with sex education? I mean why use "birds and bees'?
I don't know about birds, but bees tend to intimately involved in propagation, albeit unwittingly.
