    It's an insurance policy that pays for some or all of the work performed on you by a dentist. Most policies have some sort of co-pay, meaning you must pay X amount per visit, and the insurance company will pay the balance. (For example, your dentist charges you $100 for a routine cleaning and X-rays. Your co-pay might be $10, and the insurance company will pay $90.)
