Would somebody please help me with my English?

Different methodologies have been used by researchers to evaluate the quality of information in advertisements. Wilkes et al., evaluated the accuracy of scientific data and the compliance of the advertisements to Food and Drug Administration (FDA) standards. In another study, Neumann et al., assessed the extent pharmaceutical companies promote economic messages and evidence to support that claims. Cooper et al. characterized
and evaluated the quality of graphs in 484 advertisements in ten US medical journals.

Besides that, available studies have addressed specific issues and measure different outcome measures. For instance, Lexchin and Holbrook
in 1994, evaluated methodological quality and relevance of 114 references cited in 22 distinct advertisements in order to determine the quality of references in pharmaceutical advertisements in Canadian Medical Association Journal (CMAJ). Herxheimer et al. conducted a survey in 18 countries to asses the effect of World Health Organization’s (WHO) Ethical Criteria for Medicinal Drug promotion. In this study, they evaluated the availability of drug information that had been set by the criteria.

Number of studies have examined the quality of information in pharmaceutical advertisements in medical journals worldwide. However, no systematic review is available summarizing the current body of evidence on the quality of advertising in medicaljournals, such as how accurate the supporting evidence is and how misleading the advertisements are.

    Regards,
    Dean
