    Question Phonetics of "Gary" ???

Which is widely used phonetic for the noun "Gary".

I've heard BOTH "g{r.i" (vowel as in "hat") and "ge@.ri" (diphthong as in "care", "mary", etc.)

In the midwest, it rhymes with "Mary."

Don't know but for some reason, I feel less comfortable with using the diphthong "eI" as you've used, as it occurs in "pay, stay, bay", etc.

I feel like it should rather have a diphthong "e@" as in "care, bear, mare", etc.

But then again, it may vary from region to region & hence you'd be right in using the diphthong "eI" instead.

How about a vowel "{" i.e. the one that occurs in "hat, bat, cat", etc. ???

If it rhymes with "Mary" then I'm certain that it has to have diphthong "e@" i.e. as it occurs in "care, bear, mare", etc.

Yes. The way we pronounce it in the Midwest, anyway. The further south you go, the more they'll add that long "a" sound, so that it comes out as "Gay-ree," as Myk said.
