"This" is pronounced with short [i]
"These" is pronounced with long i [i:]
A dictionary can be of help if you know the phonetic alphabet
"this sear"- you mean the first word is pronounced with an "sh" at the end :thish year; well, I`ve heard this kind of pronunciation but I wouldn`t use it because it sounds odd and, most important of all, it is not correct.
