Default There was no enduring him

So high and so conceited that there was no enduring him! He walked here, and he walked there, fancying himself so very great!

My question is does"there was no enduring him" equal to "I couldn't endure him"?

    Thank you:)

Hello Meg, welcome to Using English!

Yes, that's right; or "it was not possible to endure him".

    Have a pleasant Sunday,

    MrP
