    dear teachers!!


    I want to emphasize that he really understood the questions(in the past form),which sentences is correct?

    1.he did understand the questions
    2.he did understood the questions

    1 is correct. Once you use the auxiliary verb do to emphasise this takes the tense you want to use.

    1. is right
    2. is wrong

    If you use "he did " did represents a modal verb and after modal verbs you need an infinitive form of the verb (without to )

    eg--- I did tell him about the party.

    I told him about the party
