I would write the email in the same way as a formal letter for something like this.

Post your letter on the forum and someone will make suggestions for improvements.

Please can someone give a look to this covering letter?

Through this mail I want to apply for a job with xxxx where I recognise the qualities I'm looking for.

I've become aware of your firm from University and I've found some interesting information on your website.
I think that I could fit with your Company Profile because of my graduate studies and my past varied experience, even in relevant works.
I would be glad to provide any further information you might need regarding my candidacy.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

    Try:
    .
I want to apply for a job with XXXX because I think the company would be a good fit for me.

I think I would fit in because my graduate studies trained me for that position, and because of my varied, relevant experience.
