    Question Inversion

    Hello,
Could you tell me which of the sentences is correct:
    a) We have nice parties at school. Not only the parties themselves are amusing, but the preparation for them, too.
    b) Not only are the parties themselves amusing, butů

Besides, if there is anything odd in the sentence, please make corrections.
    TIA.

    .
You need inversion, so b is correct:
    b) Not only are the parties themselves amusing, butů

But aren't these possible in informal English?
    `
"Not only the parties themselves are amusing, ..."
    `
"Not just the parties themselves are amusing, ..."
    `
And isn't this one also correct?
    `
"Not only the parties themselves but also the preparation for them are amusing."

    Hi dihen
Any and everything is possible in informal, spoken language, but my personal feeling is that if a native speaker were to say these sentences, it would most likely be accidental (i.e., a mistake) rather intentional. But, maybe someone else will have a different opinion...
"Not only the parties themselves are amusing, ..."
    This sounds unnatural to me.
    `
"Not just the parties themselves are amusing, ..."
This construction is possibly more likely because it deviates from "not only"

    `
"Not only the parties themselves but also the preparation for them are amusing."
Sorry, this still sounds unnatural to me.

    Does this sound better?
    `
"Not only the parties themselves, but also the preparation for them, are amusing."
    `
    What about a different sentence?
    `
    Does this sound natural?

[Not only you] find learning English difficult; many other foreigners also do.
