    How can I paraphrase this sentence?

    "It is the responsibility of the writer to expose our many grievous faults and failures and to hold up to the light our dark and dangerous dreams, for the purpose of improvement."

    Here is my thought.
    This means that writers act as a very important role to show people what kind of wrong things they did before. The exposure of grievous faults and failures by writers could improve the actions of people and propel the movement of society.
