    Re: Deloitte

Deloitte, as in the accounting firm of Deloitte and Touche, is pronounced "de-LOYT."

    Thanks very much.

But, is the final "T" pronounced or not?

    Re: Deloitte

If by final T you mean the second one, no, it is not pronounced. But there is a definite T sound at the end of "de-LOYT." It's similar to the word "Detroit," if that's any help.

Now you've confused me, Ouisch .

I vaguely remember a song that went:
"Last night I slept in DEETROYT City,
And I dreamed about those cotton fields back home..."

    Am I wrong ?

You are correct about the song, but the normal pronunciation of the city is dee TROIT, not DEE troit

Yes. It's sort of an in-joke around these parts that you can always tell a non-Detroiter by his pronunciation of the city's name. Outsiders tend to say DEE-troyt, but anyone who lives in or near Motown knows it's properly pronounced de-TROYT. And the Detroit Spinners are only known by that name outside of the US (apparently there was another band by that name somewhere); here they're simply known as the Spinners. (singing) ::::hey, y'all prepare yourself for the Rubberband...Man...!:::::
