    "strong" eyebrows

"From the middle of the 20th century, strong female eyebrows, as epitomized by Sophia Loren, have gained in popularity."

Does this "strong" mean that the style is super feminine or strong in a masculine way?

    Re: "strong" eyebrows

I think "strong" eyebrows just means thick, or drawn darkly with a pencil. I don't think it means either feminine or masculine ... but I could be wrong.

I agree with Sarah- I think it just means that they are prominent, not plucked into almost invisible lines.

Yes - so not necessarily "thick or darkly drawn": just well-delineated.

ps - "strong", of facial features, can be used to denote "suggesting strength of character": "strong chin", "strong but gentle eyes" etc; but I don't think that usage applies here.
