    Default Adverb/adjective?

In the following sentence, please tell me what "functional" is.
The boat still looked functional to Tom.

    Thanks for your help!

You might be confused because "looked" is a linking verb in that case. Many of the sensing verbs can be linking verbs in certain uses.

In this case, the verb "links" the adjective "functional" to the subject "boat".
