    Adverb/adjective?

    In the following sentence, please tell me what "functional" is.
    The boat still looked functional to Tom.

    mate an adverb has ly at the end usually.

    for example, slowly or swiftly

    You might be confused because "looked" is a linking verb in that case. Many of the sensing verbs can be linking verbs in certain uses.

    In this case, the verb "links" the adjective "functional" to the subject "boat".
