    Exclamation Untypical question here -- GB

    Hi. I am wondering what the clothes-rules for interviews in Great Britain are. Should one (male) wear a suit and a tie? Or is it permissible nowadays to go there just in a jacket, without non-white shirt and a tie?

    It is really important for me, so if you just know please share it with me!

    One of our British members will have excellent advice for you, I know, but I just wanted to add that a very good rule of thumb is to always dress a little better than expected for an interview. You can never go wrong with a classic suit/white shirt/tie combination. Good luck with your interview!

    I would wear a suit and tie. I would also go for a white shirt, but I think other colours would be OK.

    What kind of job are you going for?

    It is an academic position, and as far as I know academicians do not like suits. My main problem is related with my trip and carrying the stuff, and this is why I asked.

    I'd still go for the suit. There'll be plenty of time to dress down when you've got the job.
