    From or of (again)

    Which is correct:-
He died of a massive heart attack or
He died from a missive heart attack..

I'm still looking for an in depth explanation about the difference and use of these two words.. The movement and location theory works sometimes but not always.

    Thanks.

I think both could be used, though I'd most likely use the second. With cancer, I'd only us 'of'. Here, the movement could be seen as speed or suddenness??

He died from a massive heart attack.

Both are used. In fact, I recall hearing or seeing the first one in a news report. However, the second one would not seem odd to me. It is hard to come up with a rule that covers all occasions.

    Example:
    • A: What killed him?
B: He died of a massive heart attack.
