Question "was called" or "was being called"

    Hi
Can anyone tell me if both of these sentences are correct, or if not, which is correct and why.

I didn't like to hear anyone called a dummy.

I didn't like to hear anyone being called a dummy.

Thanks for your help in advance.

    They're both OK to me.

They are both correct but mean different things.

I didn't like to hear anyone called a dummy. = I didn't like to listen to those people whom others called "dummies".

I didn't like to hear anyone being called a dummy. = I didn't like it when some people called others a dummy.

Thanks for your help in advance.

Humble, I don't agree with your interpretation of the first sentence.

Your explanation would fit with "I don't like to hear from anybody called a dummy.

On second thoughts, they are both just two Complex Object variants with the same meaning...Perhaps you're right, Mike. Well, can I say
I don't want to hear this politician. ?
I don't want to hear such words. ?
Of course, I don't want to listen to this politician is much more common, but still?

Your uses are fine, but "someone called a dummy" is what the person doesn't want to hear. If your meaning were intended, the writer would have undoubdtedly chosen another phrasing, IMO.
