    Default Gerund, participle or verbs...

    In a simple sentence, like:

The end of the week was full of activities :
eating pizzas, watching TV, reading books etc...

Are eating..., watching..., reading...gerunds or participles, and why ?, or are they verbs ?

They are gerunds/nouns. They rename and explain the word "activities", which is also a noun.

    Thanks for reply.

What if the first sentence is changed:

    My weekend was really good:
    eating etc......

Does it rename 'weekend' (don't think so), or does it rename a not mentioned activity (not sure), or is it a list of 'actions', then they are verbs....(confused) ?

In that case, it would be a list of actions/activities. I would still call them nouns (gerunds).
