adverb (n): a word that modifies another verb, adjective, or adverb in a word grouping. eg: quickly, nicely, then, there

adverbial (adj.): relating to an adverb

an adverbial phrase is adverbially modified with an adverb.

I know its kind of funny, but its that simple I think.

The word "adverb" refers to one of the parts of speech. It usually refers to a single word. "Adverbial" can be used to refer to any phrase or clause that acts as an adverb.
