    Question I have a quetion.

    Dear teachers,
    when I read a piece, I saw this sentence:"One day Chloe is going to be a vet so she can help all the animals her family hurts. If she can get the animals away from them, that is." What does "that is" mean here? Help me,please.Thank you!

    It sets up the idea that the first sentence will only be true if the second sentence is true.
