    Default Re: Bart Simpson (US)

After my friend and her family returned from San Francisco, her daughter realized she had forgotten to pack her Bart Simpson doll. So my friend called the hotel. A few days later the doll arrived in the mail. With it was a note: "For the little girl who left her Bart in San Francisco."
Hi, Why is it a joke? Is there any connotation for the line in blue above? Thanks!

There is a very famous song called "I Left My Heart in San Francisco". The note from the hotel is a humorous play on the word 'heart'. Since the words 'heart' and 'Bart' rhyme, I'm sure the hotel was just trying to be friendly and humorous at the same time!

    Cheers,
    Amigo

Hey, Phil! How is my brother by a different mother doing these days?

Are they still singing my favorite song in Bordeaux? ("I Left My Heart in Toulouse!")

Amigo, thanks for your explanation. I got it. Just learned Bart Simpson has been so popular in the States for years. I hope I would watch it one day.

Not only in America. The Simpsons are popular here as well.

Well, Bart sounds cute. This was the first time I heard about him in this joke. And just now I assume no many Chinese watched it because I searched it via Google and found just a few Chinese webpages mention about it sporadically.

The American TV series- Friends are popular among Chinese English learners here. As I knew, many Chinese chose it to learn spoken English.

How the heck do you know that??? Brothers in heart. You are the heartbreakers... You gave a good explanation for "Bart"', I could not stay around there without saying something.

    Thanks sharing it.
