    Red face copy & paste

As I am typing on the page of "Post New Thread" , I have never been able to "copy and paste" the content which I found it very inconvenient. Anyone can help me to solve this problem, will it be the defect on my computor or anything....?

    Thanks.

    (any mistake in grammer?)

yes it sounds like a problem with your computer. What operating system, web browser, and type of keyboard/mouse are you using?

Your best bet is to find your local computer nerd to help you.

    good luck.

    Re: copy & paste

    Hi, Ju,
I've talking abt it for quite a while - it's impossible to copy anything in this forum. If my laptop were faulty, I'd have the same problem elsewhere, but I don't. I guess your comp is OK, too.
    Cheers

    Re: copy & paste

Do you mean that you are trying to copy someone's post (without using the "Quote" button) and then paste it into your reply?

    Re: copy & paste

I use Firefox and have just checked in Internet Explorer 7. In both I can copy and paste in three ways:
1 Highlight text with mouse, right-click, choose Copy, the place cursor where I want the text and right-click to paste
2 Highlight text, press Ctrl C, then Ctrl V
3 Highlight text, use Copy from the Edit menu and Paste from the same place

All work for me in both browsers.

If you want to copy text to reply to what someone has said, the click on the Quote button under the post and it will auomatically insert the text of the whole post, and you can delete any text not relevant to your reply.

I am moving this thread to the support area for further help on the issue.

    Re: copy & paste

    Hi,
Tdol, the sequence of operations you described is exactly what I do in other forums Ė successfully. Here, if I see something interesting, the only way to copy it is the following:
    1. Click ďquoteĒ while online.
    2. Highlight the quoted message or its part (either on- or offline).
    3. Drag the highlighted message or its part into my file.
The right click does not provide the ďcopyĒ option either on the message or its quote.
Itís even impossible to highlight a piece of a post unless itís quoted. If I try to do it, all the page Ė from the cursor to the very bottom is highlighted.
I wrote about it long ago and didnít get any reply. I thought I couldnít do it because Iím just a dummy, but now, with much more experience, itís the same.
I didnít want to pester Red5, I thought there might be some technical problems.
BTW I still donít understand how to use multiquote. Tried experimenting and failed.
    Regards

    Re: copy & paste

I use IE and have the same problem when copying text in a post. No matter how much or little I attempt to highlight, it copies everything down to the disclaimers and copyright information. What I usually do is paste all that, then manually delete the irrelevant text.
