    What is the difference between active and passive vocabulary?
    Please give examples for your arguments.

    m
    active vocabulary: all the words one normally uses in speech and writing + those words that one could use effectively in one's speech and writing

    passive vocabulary: all the words that one doesn't and can't use effectively, but that one understands when someone else uses them

    I don't know what type of examples you are looking for.
