    Default Initial caps/title case

    Hi!

I'm sitting in Sweden working with airplane manuals in English and I have a couple of questions about initial caps/title case.

First, I wonder which words donít get an initial cap in a title. Example:

The Names of the Seven Dwarfs

Is there a list of exactly which words are written without initial caps in a title?

Also, what about words with a hyphen? Example:

    Sub-Contractor or Sub-contractor?

Is the second word with a small or capital letter?

    Kindest regards,

    Yvonne from Sweden : )

I'm not sure there is a single accepted routine. A safe set of rules for titles is this:

    1. Always capitalize the first and last words.
    2. Never capitalize articles or prepositions/conjunctions of four letters or less, except as in #1.

I would normally capitalize the word after a hyphen in titles.
