    Question Abrazos ( hugs)

    When someone , an american writes abrazos (hugs ) when finishing an email, is this close or distant ?

    It's a friendly gesture, not a romantic one. Americans tend to hug more than a lot of other cultures. For example, I only see my husband's boss once or twice a year, because he works in another state, but we always hug hello goodbye. It's considered warmer and closer than a handshake.

    The same applies to emails. When someone considers you a cyber-friend, they'll often sign off with {{{hugs}}} or :::hugs:::.
