    carry off

    1can you tell me the meaning of "carry off" in this sentence
    A heart attack carried him off

    2she's going to divorce him because he's been carrying on with a friend of theirs
    what does carry on means here

    "A heart attack carried him off" seems to me to mean that a heart attack killed him.

    "She's going to divorce him because he's been carrying on with a friend of theirs" means to me that he has been having an affair (a sexual relationship) with a friend of theirs.

    1. the heart attack killed him (carried him off to the promised land).

    2. Carry on, in this case, probably means he's having a sexual relationship.
