    reinforce the teacher's knowledge?

"Girls tend to ask questions that reinforce the teacher's knowledge. Boys tend to ask more challenging questions."

I somehow find the first sentence strange. Is it menat to say "girls tend to ask questions that may reinforce the knowledge their teachers taught them"?

reinforce in the sense that their questions give or add more force or effectiveness to the ideas being expressed.
