    hello

    can someone tell me whether we can study vowels according to certain rules or not? and if yeah what r these rules?

    Sir I mean "are there rules 4 studying vowels in English?" 4 xample can we say that whenever we have (a+consonant+e) we have the vowel /ei/ ... with some ecepition of course or not??

    There are almost always exceptions with English pronuncation I'm afraid. With the example you gave, I can think of some:
    ate- some say 'eight' and others 'et'
    Forbade- pronounced 'forbad' by many
    delicate (and many others)- the 'a' is pronounced as a schwa
    Try to think of them as guidelines rather than rules. English spelling and pronunciation are inconsistent because English is a mixture of languages and has different spelling systems at work.

    Hello Noor! I went through the 'Phonics Rules' from this website and I find it very useful.I'm also learning the rules to pronounce certain English words. I would recommend you to use 'Phonics Rules' and you will greatly benefit from it. Wish you the best!
