    Wink Why thechicken crossed the street

    What does this expresiion mean "Why the chicken crossed the street?" Is it an idiomatic expression or just the title of a book/story.

    It's an old joke:

    Q Why did the chicken cross the road?
    A To get to the other side.

    I haven't heard it used as an idiom, though it would make sense to refer to it when someone has stated the obvious.
