Shearer picked up a knee injury last week and the team's doctor said he would have a surgery.

He said that he would invest more money

My question is: can we also say "the team's doctor said he will (not would) have a surgery" and "He said that he will invest more money"?

Is it correct to use the present tenses when something you said has a connection with the present?

If you want to use the future tense in these 2 sentences, the word "say" must be in present tense or in present perfect tense.eg:
He says that he will invest more money

please correct me if I'm wrong!!
