    Default faith unfaithful

    His honour rooted in dishonour stood,
    And faith unfaithful kept him falsely true.

    What is the meaning of `stood' and `faith unfaithful' here?

    Could anyone explain it?

    stood= hald fast/did not break
    faith unfaithful- an oxymoronic statement- it contradicts itself, refelcting the conflicting emotions between his love and his duty.
