Default Teaching and learning English in Viet Nam

    Hello!
Students in general schools in Vietnam are using English text books written by Vietnamese teachers. The books are very different from text books by Oxford . They have long texts on serious subjests , not interesting for children . They pay little attention to grammar and almost there are no pronunciation practice.

It's not the first time I read about teaching English and the textbooks in Vietnam. Textbooks aren't interesting in Russia either. What do I do while teaching at school? I use only the most interesting material from the textbook, the rest of the material is mine which I have been collecting since the first year I started working at school. You should try to make your lessons intersting instead of reading those dull texts in your textbooks.

Also, there are so many materials available freely online, that we're spoiled for choice nowadays.

Can we fully rely on materials online? Very often they aren't written by specialists though the authors are native speakers.

Add them to our links database here: http://www.usingenglish.com/cgi-bin/links/add.cgi

(there's a bilingual section in the ESL section, which would be ideal for you, vtdigitial- http://www.usingenglish.com/links/En...tes/index.html)

Harry, I had a quick look and will go back when I've got through all I have to do here. I did notice that the Contact page brought up an error message.
