    Question layout of a formal letter

    what is the exact format for writing a letter?is it wrong to address the editor of the newspaper as respected sir?in message writing should the name of the writer be written in capital letters?

    'Respected Sir' is standard Indian English, I believe; my AmE uses 'Dear Editor'. The writer's name in signature (after the closing) is written as usual.

    Business letter formats galore are available when you google the phrase, 'Business Letters'.

    You can use just 'Sir' in BrE.
