    Default an inch

    Give a camel an in inch and he take an ill.

    Could anyone explain the above sentence?

    It's taken from an Indian proverb. By the way, ell is a former measure of length, varying in different countries: in England equal to 45 in. (114 cm).

    So give someone 2.5 cm and they'll take 114 cm. I've never heard of a camel being involved though! I suspect that bit of the context wasn't idiomatic, but was just saying that camels are hard to control.
