    Default Letter_extension_application

    Hi all,
Would somebody please help me with my English?

    Dear Sir,

I am on a study leave from the (faculty x, university J) from 15th of July,2004 to 14th of July, 2007. Currently, I am working on my new PhD thesis at the ( university Y) after moving from the (university M) on the 15th of February, 2006. The moved was approved by the (university J) due to problems with the research supervisors after nearly 15 months of study.

Due to that, I am not able to finish my PhD study within three years that have been allocated for me. Therefore, I would like the university to consider extending my study leave and scholarship for a period of 6 months (first extension). This will allow me to continue working on my current PhD thesis as the results from this study will be benefited our country the most, especially in developing our national medicine policy.

I am hoping that the university will approve my application as my research project is progressing well. In addition, I would like to request the university to forward this application to the Ministry of Higher Education for further approval. Please find attached all the necessary documentations in support of my request.

Thanking you in advance for your kind consideration.

    Yours Sincerely,

    Name and address

    The moved- The move
am not able to finish my PhD- shall not be able
within three years- within the three
    will be benefited- will benefit
our country the most- our country greatly

Yours sincerely- 1) don't capitalise 'sincerely' 2) If it's Dear Sir or madam, I'd use 'Yours faithfully'. Also, Is 'dear Sir' OK, or would 'Sir or Madam' be better
