    Please correct the sentence

    Hi teachers,
    Which of the sentences bellow are correct?

    #1People go to universities or colleges to acquire further knowledge and so on. OR

    #2People go to university and college to acquire futher knowledge and so on.

    Some explanations, too.

    I'd use the second,as we use university in an uncountable was when we are thinlking about education rather than location. I wouldn't use 'and so on' after one example.

    In AE we say the person is going to college even if the institution is a university.

    I would also caution you about the use of "and so on". If there is one reason, you can state that: One reason that people... :wink:
