When somebody presents a tv show, he is the presenter or the host or maybe the compere?
I can't find a proper translation. Using my dictionary does not give a big help....
the sentence is: for three weeks, starting September through January 2005, he was the presenter/host/compere of the tv show ....................
He could be any of these.
As Anglika said, any of these is possible, though some choices would be more likely (depending on the sort of show).

Of course, when the show mixes these genres, the name of the front-man is flexible; but - for example - you'd be unlikely to have a compere on any sort of news-related show.
