    Skinning a COW

I have just read a newspaper article which said: 'Did I want to see - and hear - a cow being shot with some kind of bolt and then SKUN'. I vaguely remember hearing the word (past tense of skin, as in skinned) in my childhood, but I can't find a reference to it in any dictionaries. Help - is it a real word and/or grammatically correct
