    Angry to open the lid

I have forgotten the word (verb) for opening a lid with the help of the back of a spoon using it as a lever. I looked for the word in the Roget's Thesaurus (paperback) 1997 edition under the heading "Open", but couldn't find that word. Can anybody think of it for me ?

What about, pry it open with a spoon?

pry: To raise, move, or force open with a lever.

    All the best.

Thumbs down Re: to open the lid

Yaah, thank you. "Pry" is the word I was trying to recollect. I don't understand why it is not mentioned under the head "Open" in the thesaurus.
