    Laughing my butt off

    What does it mean by "Laughing my butt off"? I can understand by the context that its laughing like any thing but what exactly it means and is it approriate and decent to use any where with any body? What exactly butt off means in this context?

    Hope I don't get in trouble for this!!!
    This phrase comes from the slightly more pejorative phrase which is more commonly used.
    See: Urban Dictionary: laugh your ass off
    It is probably not appropriate to use in formal situations, but with your friends in the american culture, it is common.
