    Default correct word

The shy boy was sitting at the back of the class quiet / quietly.

Which word should I use? Or is the sentence wrongly phrased? If so, could you please rephrase it for me?

    Thanks in advance.

    Default Re: correct word

In this instance, the word "quietly" is an ADVERB -
The part of speech that modifies a verb, adjective, or other adverb.

So - how is he sitting ? answer = he is sitting quietly.

    :)
