    Sentence help.

For some reason this sentence looks funny to me. Could you tell me if it's correct please? Robert frantically tried to rip open the casing, but his feeble body couldn’t muster enough strength.
    Thank you.

"To rip the casing open" maybe?

I'm inclined to agree with Francois in saying "to rip the casing open". However, I would also substitute the word "but" with the word "however".

If I am communicating in a written format, I would also break up the contraction "couldn't" and use the term "could not"

    Thus:

"Robert frantically tried to rip the casing open; however, his feeble body could not muster enough strength."

    ~word~

It looks fine to me - "rip open the casing" would sound better than "rip the casing open"
