    I think the differences are in custom- we talk of Dick cheney as the Vice-President and John Presecott as the Deputy-Prime Minister. It's basically the same thing. Associate is a bit different- there can be many associates.

    Okay, now that we can't tell them apart with reason, could you make a list of the names of positions when we could only use this rather than that?

    e.i. vice president (right)
    associate president (wrong)
