    Default How to understand

    hi,dear teacher,
    I am a new user from China.
    The other day,when I read Bible I came across a word circumcise,How to explain it in English,that is what does it mean?

    Circumcision is the removal of the foreskin from the penis of a male baby shortly after birth.

    I didn't know before that there is such a word " circumcision" used in the Bible. :o

    This procedure was a religious rite before it became a standard medical procedure. In many Christian churches, January 1st is the day of the Circumcision.

    Here's a tidibt. The person (Jewish) who performs the ritual circumcision is called a mohel.

    It's not a standard medical procedure in the UK.
