    Question Picking out drapes

I am a woman living in Japan. I have been studying English with watching American DVDs. Now I enjoy watching "Alf" that is an American sitcom.

There is a scene I don't understand. Could someone help me?

Alf likes Lyn who is a girl living with him. Some day Lyn went out with
a boy, so Alf disturbed her. Alf said, " That's the way it starts. First a small kiss. The next thing you know, They're picking out your drapes."

What does "picking out your drapes" mean?
In this case, I wonder if drapes mean curtain or skirt.

    I'm waiting for your answer.

Picking out the drapes is choosing curtains, something a couple do when they are setting up home together. The sentence is saying that you start with a kiss, and end up living together.

Thank you very much for your quick replies.
Now I can understand the meaning.
I sometimes have difficulty in understanding
the TV program, but it is fun for me.
If I have another question, I'll post message
    to here again. Thanks again!
