Question How to be an atrractive English teacher

There is no doubt that the students' attitude toward teacher is very important in teaching. Some teachers are able to gain popurarity in their classes, which will contribute to their teaching. While some find it difficult to establish mutual trust and friendship with their students. Their students seem not to listen to them. This will definitely influence the teaching progress. Then how to be an attractive English teacher? Any successful experience you would like to share? Any suggestions? I really appreciate that. Thank you!

Re: How to be an atrractive English teacher

I've become very good friend with my students. I spend most of my free time with them as they also happen to be my age (they're 20 and I'm 26).

I really like them. I think Chinese students are cute and everything they do makes me chuckle.

Have you ever really like someone who didn't like you back? It's rare.

If a student feels you like them of course they will feel the same way.

I've bought presents for my students of their birthdays and always try to make them feel better when I see them.

One simple thing which really helps: remember their names. It's so important.

    hi ,
As a student , I hope I can offer you some useful suggestions.
Life is an echo. If you like your students first and make them understand that you care about them, it’s impossible they will be indifferent to you. So showing more concern for them and making friends with them will help you get closer to them. You can talk some topics popular among them after class or help them solve some problems. Trust your students first if you want them trust you .
To be an attractive teacher also means your class is attractive. So a good sense of humor is necessary. If possible, you can design some games or activities to attract your students’ attention. Try to connect the book with their daily lives.
I hope these suggestions will be helpful to you. And I believe you will be an attractive teacher in future as long as you do your best to improve yourself. Just enjoy it.

You have to use a style of teaching that suits you and reflects your personality. Always have time for them, both as a class and as individuals.

I think it's very important.Secondly the students would like their teacher to have a good knowledge of the language. And finally the teacher and the students should trust each other.

Students can feel if you're disinterested in what you're teaching, and lose motivation. I guess, if you like what you're doing, you can inspire your students to like that as well. And this can help build a trusting relationship with them, since they notice that you care.

What would you do to inspire your students if you were a teacher?

Re: How to be an atrractive English teacher

I think the most important thing is to be yourself! Don't try to fulfil the role of a "teacher" in class. Simply try to be yourself teaching your students then is sort of a side effect that comes along with being in the class room situation.

Also show your students that you like what you're doing yourself and that it's not something you're forced to do (or you have chosen the wrong subject to teach) Students will trust you if you stay authentic! Also don't be afraid of making a mistake in class. It's fun to find the right answers together.

But what's most important, I think, is: don't forget to laugh with your students!! Show them that you're just a person like them. You don't need to become as affectionate as the member above, even buying his/her students b-day presents - no offense to this member - but you simply go bankrupt once you teach between 150 and 300 students a year

    Also enjoy yourself while teaching
