    Post Re: GOOD morning or evening

    Good Morning friend,

    I'm no expert - but I've been taught the following;

    I hope I can be of some assistance;

    The polite greeting: "Good Morning!" can be used anytime from Midnight (24:00) onwards until Mid-day (12.00) .

    Secondly -

    "Good Afternoon!" can be used from Midday (12.00) till five o'clock - (17.00)

    It is only at this time that one uses the greeting "Good Evening!"

    This phrase can be used until Midnight (24:00) - unless you wish to depart from someone's company. Which is when one uses the phrase "Good Night!".

    Helpful ?

    Best wishes -

    Re: GOOD morning or evening

    Jackalina gave you the times, but here it is again:

    On meeting someone:

    "Good Morning!" is used any time from Midnight [12.00 o'clock at night (24:00 )] onwards until Mid-day (12.00 pm) .
    "Good Afternoon!" is used from Midday (12.00pm) till five o'clock in the afternoon- (17.00)
    "Good Evening!" is used after 5.00 o'clock in the afternoon until Midnight (12.00 o'clock at night (24:00) ]

    When leaving someone any time after 8.00pm at night, you will say "Good Night".

    I hope this makes it clear for you.
