    Smile diversity

On the other side of the Atlantic, a number of schools such as Oxford are considering enrolling fewer British undergraduates to take more international students for they bring higher tuition fees as well as diversity/variety/difference.

I wondef if all the underlined words fit here or not. Thanks.

    Re: diversity

I think "diversity" if the far superior choice.

Variety could work, but it's not the natural choice.

    Difference does not work.

    Thanks, Barb.
But could you spare me a few words to explain why difference doesn't work.
I simply don't have this English instinct?

    Re: diversity

"difference" = the way in which people/things are dissimilar - not like each other >> Chinese food is different from English food.

"diversity" = widely varied >> Foreign students come [from a diversity of/diverse] cultures
