Re: I want to learn British accent

First, there are many different british accents, some of which will be absolutely no use to you. You mean, I think a cultured public school type of accent. This is difficult to learn quickly. You would need years to even come near it, and probably never succeed, as language and accent are formed normally before the person is three years old. After that you are stuck... My advice is to just try and speak plain english in your own way. Don't lose your heritage.

    Respected Sir,

As far as i know i am not a person who tends to give up easily, and as the impossibility in learning British accent is concerned- i would like to say that ' Nothing is impossible'-- and also the word 'Impossible' says that ' I-m-possible', so as and then i am not going to retreat and surrender.
I do have sheer faith in me and i shall certainly achieve success.....soon.

sorry if i have offended you, i did not do intentionally,
    Thank you,

    Yours affectionately,

    Dear friend,
as you told nothing is possible if you have the will to go ahead and achieve what you are looking for.

what you need is practice daily. you can listen to this accent from different resources, then practice what you listening. in additiion, you need to study phonetics to know the right way of pronouncing English letters.

    with my regards,
    Rana

Hi - some of the other members have given some great tips about learning British English. I actually published a blog on the subject today. The 5 key points I listed were:

Avoid picking up a very strongly regional accent.

    2. Change your language learning partners.

    3. Be careful learning British slang.

    4. Watch British TV.

    5. Donít try and be clever and cultivate an upper class accent.

Re: I want to learn British accent

    Hi,

I tend to agree with Curmudgeon. My family has been speaking English for years and we all have accents. It's very difficult to acquire a particular accent or even lose your own.

It is, in my humble opinion, better to try and speak good - even excellent - English without going to a lot of trouble of acquiring an accent which would be a little artificial. And also difficult to acquire.

And accents are not necessarily ugly!

This is just my opinion of course.
